The Journeyman was Dutch East Design’s first of seven thus-far unique brands developed for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. Designer and Operator entered into a highly collaborative relationship as Dutch East carried out an intensive research process. In doing so, the spirit of Milwaukee came to the surface in its many facets, aspects of which were interwoven into the project’s identity.
Personifying the building as a world-weary traveling craftsman looking for a town to hang their hat, the hotel was named The Journeyman. Built in the heart of Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward, this ground-up boutique hotel for Kimpton comprises of 158 guest rooms, ground floor bar/restaurant and rooftop lounge. Dutch East Design provided branding, naming, and interior design services for the project.
